Analysis of the structural composition of lithium-ion batteries

Analysis of the structural composition of lithium-ion batteries

2025-07-15

From the perspective of lithium-ion battery structure, it is mainly divided into the following five parts:

1. Cathode materials: transition metal oxides or polyanionic compounds with layered or spinel structure with lithium intercalation ability with high electrode potential and stable structure, such as lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, lithium iron phosphate, ternary materials, etc.

2. Anode materials: layered graphite, metal elements and metal oxides with potential close to lithium potential, stable structure and many lithium storage, such as graphite, central phase carbon microspheres, lithium titanate, etc.

3. Electrolyte: an organic solvent dissolved in electrolyte lithium salt, supplying lithium ions, electrolyte lithium salts are LiPF6, LiClO4, LibF4, etc., and the organic solvent is mainly composed of one or several mixtures of diethyl carbonate, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, dimethyl ester, etc.

4. Separator: placed between the positive and negative electrodes, guard against the positive and negative electrodes to touch straight, and promise the polyene microporous membrane through which Li + ions pass, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), or their composite films, PP/PE/PP three-layer separator.

5. Shell: battery packaging, mainly aluminum shell, cover plate, tabs, insulating sheets, etc.
